COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO – Following the 2024 season, 46 high school track and field athletes have been named to the annual U.S. Paralympics Track & Field High School All-American team, the organization announced today.

The list recognizes the top high school track and field athletes who have a Paralympic-eligible impairment based on their performances in the 2024 season. This is the 14th group of athletes to have been awarded the honor.

Paralympic silver medalist Arelle Middleton (Rancho Cucamonga, California), along with up-and-coming athletes Chloe Chavez (Panhandle, Texas) and Samuel Winter (Carpio, North Dakota) headline the 2024 rosters as U.S. Paralympics Track & Field High School Athletes of the Year. The selection criteria looked at the top athlete performances in each event in 2024 as compared against the “A” standard for the U.S. Paralympics Track & Field National Team. Athletes who competed in high school track and field during the 2023-2024 school year were eligible.

“While the Paris Paralympics were a major focus for us this year, we’re always looking ahead to what the next generation of elite Para track and field athletes are bringing to the table,” Sherrice Fox, Director, U.S. Paralympics Track & Field, said. “These athletes are proof that the future is bright for Team USA.”

Middleton takes home top honors as Female Field Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive year. It was a historic year for the 16-year-old, who won her first career world championships medal in May in Kobe, Japan, before becoming the youngest Team USA athlete to medal at the Paralympic Games in Paris. She earned silver in women’s shot put F64 in both her world championships and Paralympic debuts. Her mark of 12.19 meters at the Paralympics also secured her athlete of the year honors.

Chavez, the 2024 Female Track Athlete of the Year, earns the distinction after recording a season’s best 29.02 time in the 200-meter T64. It is the first time the 18-year-old has won athlete of the year, showcasing her versatility by hitting qualifying marks in the 100-meter, 200-meter, long jump, shotput and discus.

Rounding out Athlete of the Year honors is Winter, a 2023 High School All-American who is earning both Male Field Athlete of the Year and Male Track Athlete of the Year for the first time in his career. Winter stood out in both the 400-meter and long jump T36, where he recorded a best time of 59.50 and best jump of 4.95 meters to lead all U.S. Paralympics Track & Field male high school athletes.
